Operation Write Home At Paradise Scrapbook Boutique

Good Morning.....Yesterday was our monthly get together for Operation Write Home at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. I love getting together with everyone and making cards (which we all love doing) for a cause. Every month I tell myself I will work on kits and then on the day of the get together, I'll be ready to just sit and glue them all together. Well.....my intentions are always good, but rarely do my plans become actions. Guess what! This month, following in the foot steps of my buddies, Carolyn, Virginia,Mary Jane and Cathy.....I did it! I actually went prepared! Wah Hoo!
As do all card makers and scrapbookers....I have tons of scrap paper....I made these cards out of the scraps I've been collecting (well not all of them....I could make cards forever and never run out!) I used the same sketch for all the cards, but the papers make them all look different. Now I need to think of a new sketch for next month.....
We always have room for more people. There are lots of papers, embellishments, etc. ready for every one's use. So, if you can glue and can use a scissors, join us. You'll learn and hopefully you too will become addicted to card making and make some really great friends doing so.
I swear that card making has helped me loose weight (40 pounds so far!) When I'm crafting, I'm so focused that I don't eat!. Of course you still have to exercise (walking is my exercise of choice) and you do have to watch what you eat at meal times....We talked about this yesterday and everyone agreed....so, come and join our great weight loss program! LOL!
July 1st I'll be joining a group to make an absolutely beautiful album. Check out Karen's blog page to see it. The class is sold out, but if you check the blog page you'll be able to see what's up for July. Karen's good at keeping us up to date on what's going on at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.

I guess I'd best get some housework done. I moved a table into the family room so, in the evenings, I can spend quality time with my husband. There are paper snips everywhere!
Have a wonderful week.....

July Class at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique

Boy, my Spellbinder dies are getting a work out on this card. The flower, the window and the sentiment....all Spellbinders. Many of the girls have already learned the flower and they can show you how easy they are to make. This really is an easy card. I'll show you how to use a magnet sheet to hold your dies while you cut...easy easy! A Cuttlebug embossing folder was used to emboss the front of the card and the clear box is the envelope.
The second card is one very similar to one I saw on a blog page. Check out Debbie's blog page. Karen has the papers and I love everything about them.
Sorry I'm being so brief this morning. A friend is coming in half an hour and I'm still in my jammies. I did want to give the girls a heads up on what the next class will be.
Enjoy your Saturday.....I am sure I will....Later!

4th of July

My son and family live in Australia. Every year on the 4th of July they have a party. This year I thought I would join them in spirit. I made a 4th of July card for my grand kids. Below are some photos from last year's party........
Lots of flag waving by my granddaughter Bridget.
Saluting done by my grandson and his cousin.
Even Baseball...Go Lachlan!
And finally.....lots of food. It looks like the kids had a good time!
My card was made using card stock I purchased at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. The glitter paper, which is really, really shiny! is American Crafts - Rouge - Glitter Palettes.
The graphic was made using my Print Shop 23 Program, enlarging the graphic and cutting it out. The flag is from my husband's stash. The bling....well, that's from my stash! Of course I used Spellbinder dies and also Sizzix die - Star.
Off to the post office I go......
Have a great weekend. Tomorrow I'm taking a Cricut class (no Brenda, I didn't buy one) I still have my Gazelle. I'm just wanting to see how the other half lives. LOL.

Bridget's Flower Card

My 4 year old granddaughter, Bridget is coming for Christmas. She is a little crafter and is looking forward to playing with grammy in grammy's toy room. I thought it would be fun to send her a card and a kit so she could make the same card. While reading Taylored Expressions blog page, I saw the below card. I think it was posted on Saturday. I decided that I'd make this card easier, add glue dots and tape strips to some of the embellishments and still allow her to get into her glue to glue some of the embellishments to the card. Thank you Taylored Expressions for the great card example. For my card I used scraps of card stock, a button and rick-rack from my stash. The flower was cut using Spellbinder die: Flower Creations 2 and the leaves are from Daisy Heads. I can't wait to see how Bridget's card turns out. I am sure it will be BEAUTIFUL! I am so excited that she and her brother Lachlan (and mom and dad too) will be coming for a visit. I wish we lived closer so we could craft every day! They live in Australia...quite a trip from Northern California!

Tomorrow it's card class day for me, at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.....We'll be making two very sweet cards. I can't wait to see everyone.

Mojo Monday 142 - Yet Another

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 142 is like eating potato chips.....no one can do just one. I used the same DP, a Martha Stewart punch or two, and the flower was made by me....thank you Sherry for that class! (check my blog a month or so ago, and I have a connected link to how to make the flower).
I'd like to say a thank you to Patti, She lives across the country from me. We've never met. I don't think she ever sleeps....because she's always there to comment on something I've made and her creations are very special. Patti.....Thank You! Check out her site for inspiration!
Off to Weight Watchers I go, and then a day of hanging out with the girls.
Have a great week!

In The Pink and Our Little Tucker

I haven't posted in awhile, I'll explain in a minute....but before I do.... Yesterday was our monthly SOS meeting at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. Prior to going, I'd read my email and saw the sketch for Mojo Monday#142 I I knew I had the perfect paper for this sketch. G.C.D Studios - Pink Stitchery Homespun Chic Collection. I loved the paper when I first saw it and I think it worked very well on this card.

The girls I do paper crafting with, and the people in my Weight Watcher group are so very supportive. I really want to thank all of them. On June 4th. we lost an important family member and a most special friend. Tucker was 11 1/2 and for 11 1/2 years has brought us pure love, silly moments and joy. He was not wanted by his first family and their loss was most certainly our gain.

The day before he passed, I don't know why, but I grabbed my camera as he was sniffing around the yard. When I called his name, he turned toward me and this photo is a result of that turn. He was so gray his face faded and his eyes sparkled. I sure miss him. as does his "dad", Baxter and Sydney.
