WOYWW-164-Snippets-Sydney and More

Whew....I've been busy this week.  Before I go on, and I do tend to go on.... Here are the cards for my August Class - which will be Wednesday, August 15th.  I think there are 2 spots still available.
I love the graphic on this card. And since today is Christmas in July (7/25) and inching ever closer to Christmas....Here's card #2.
This is an easy and quick card to make.  I'm all about easy and quick, especially at Christmas.  This one is also going to be not too expensive to send.

I'm getting many emails inquiring as to Sydney's health.  She's doing much better, however, we are still having issues with her being able to keep food down.  Yesterday was her first day without a vet visit to hydrate her or to do blood work to see if she is improving.  On the up side, she hasn't lost any more weight.  The vet isn't sure what caused her kidney's to fail, but he's leaning toward poison.  Not sure if it was something she found growing in the yard, or from another source.  Her brother Baxter has been very concerned and sticks pretty close to her.  This photo was taken during Brenda and my crop.
She looks rather comfortable....Baxter looks a bit crowded.  Usually he's the one that hogs the bed.  Think she might be taking advantage of him?

Sooooo now on to some crafty moments.  Here's my desk for WOYWW - 164  You will note, it is very dark outside.  Seems the two now sleeping dogs thought it was time to get up.  We were up at 4:30 AM  Both dogs are now sleeping.  So not fair!
I thought I'd take advantage of the early hours by working on an album.  This is a first for me, it's a soft spine mini album.  I'll show it when I'm finished.  I may be very late to learn of this gal, I know several of the girls I crop with at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, have made several items.  I learned of Kathy from Paper Phenomenon  from them.  Kathy has great written tutorials, and you can also follow along with her via U-Stream videos.  I'm plugging along slowly, but I'm very happy with what I've done so far.  Check her out, her albums are amazing.

You know how I love men's cards (NOT), well, I have 2 for August.  I do struggle with them.  The one above is for my new Son-In-Law.  He's pretty amazing and if you want to know anything about Chicago....ask him, he's the best tour guide.  Ok, so about his card.  He is a surveyor and he loves architecture.  That's what I was trying to capture .  This is truly a snippet card.  I'd gotten a new Martha punch around the page and decided to use some snippets to practice.  The punch worked very well on the suede paper.  I'm not as happy with the embossed pieces, but still you can see what is embossed.  It's always fun to use snippets and even more fun to see what others made using them.  Check out Di's blog to see what's happening on the playground.  Lots of great talent there.

And last but not least.  Brenda's husband and I share the same birthday.  While she was working on her cards, I was working on her husband's birthday card.  Shhhhh, don't show it to him yet.... but here it is...
Jerry has become quite the photographer and he and a friend are about to hit the road for a photographic vacation.  It's great that people of our age are out and about and doing things we love.  The embellishment on this card is a little camera....pretty cute I think!

Wishing you all a very creative week.  I'm looking forward to Friday....Virginia, Cathy, Mary Jane, Leesa and I will be spending the day doesn't get any better than that!

Hugs to all,
AKA:  Glitter Grammy

  2. Where to start? So many good things on your desk! The class card is so pretty, with such lovely soft colors and fun die cuts and punches. The Christmas card is great-it is crisp, clean and simple, which is great for mass producing. And like you said, not going to cost a mint to mail. I made thick square Christmas cards once and learned that lesson-you pay extra because they are thick and extra extra because they are square. The two manly cards are awesome! I like the bottom one best but love the grids and elements of the top one too.

Glad to hear that the puppy is doing better. That's sweet her brother is keeping a concerned eye on her.

  3. pleased your dog is on the mend, must have been worrying for you,fab mens cards ( i hate making them too )
    happy woyww

  4. Magnificent cards once again! I always love seeing your work!

  5. I love all the cards you've displayed here Mary. The first one is so intricate and pretty, the second is an adorable Christmas one. The third card is a totally brilliant masculine card as is the final one - love the sepia colours.

So glad that Sydney is doing better. Totally cute picture of her asleep with her little mate! Hope she continues to do well.

  6. Brilliant cards Mary, and super use of snippets on the masculine one. Did you use a die for the window on the Santa one?

Good to know that Sydney is improving - such a lovely photo too.

Welcome back to the playground, we have sunshine and clear blue skies - and I think the ice cream van is on its way :)

Hugs, Di xx And Happy Belated WOYWW Di xx #13

  7. Bags I a Magnam from the van!!! Love the colours on the 1st card. They match the image so perfectly. Glad to hear Sydney is getting back to normal. Bit of a worry as to knowing what caused it and how. Hugs Mrs A.

  8. Mary, such a great post full of news and creativity! Loved that your WOYWW is unique in the dark! All your work is fab, but my fave is the CAS red and white window Christmas card!!

    Have a great week!

I think she has adopted us or she thinks we are the local fast food take out!Tee-hee .. Have a happy week, Hugs May x x x

  10. Wow! Mary! You have been a busy bunny over there with such a beautiful array of cards there too! Love the Christmas one of course!
And Sydney sure looks such a cutie. Glad to hear she is over the worse. Dobby sends a Get Well Lick too!

  11. Mom, he's impatient, didn't wait. Men! He loves the card. Likes the fuzzy texture of the details. Thank you for sending him a homemade card instead of a box of rocks! :)

  12. Box of rocks....darn it, I knew there was something I forgot to send! I love having him as my new son-in-law and I'm thrilled that I could make him something that he loves....besides his wife!

  13. Mary, these cards are all so fab, it's hard to pick a fav (but I DID!) The red window frame which looks to be a Memory Box die (just happen to have it). First time I've seen it used as red, and I LOVE it. You have several elements on these beautiful cards that I have (and don't great examples for me). The suede is so perfect for a guy, and I'm sure he'll appreciate your thoughts in creating it especially for him. And the #4 Birthday card is so 'pretty' (can you say that for a guy card? Maybe I should say Handsome...but whatever's a great card. Glad you are back from your trip and so happy to hear your little Sydney is improving. TFS.
