What's on Your Workdesk? Come on...share....

Ok, here it is....WOYWW 177:
My desk doesn't look overly exciting, but it's the week of learning.  I bought a complete set of Spectrum Noir pens, and now it's time to learn how to use them.  Today I spent coloring and coloring, and coloring.  I downloaded some sample tests for certification.  I'm not sure I will attempt certification, I am finding the test graphics very helpful, so I shall at least do some coloring and learning while I do so.  Sooooo.....Join Julia, me and many, many more of us and share your workspace.

Earlier in the month I bought a storage device.  When I find something I really like, and I find it very inventive, I tell my DH that it must have been invented by a woman...He grumbles as he walks away!  You'll see it on my desk, it looks like a DVD holder (I honestly think that was it's beginning), anyway, it has two levels and it holds over 30 Stickle type bottles.  I don't know who manufactures it, but if you are interested, leave a comment for Karen at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique , she'll let you know how to get one. She sold out the day she introduced them, but maybe she can find more. Someone needs to invent a way to store the Tim Holtz re-inkers....anybody?

Well, this is short, coloring has tired me out!  I'm going to watch some TV and head for bed.  My prayers go out for the speedy recovery to all those in the path of Sandy.  I hope all of us who are climbing into a warm a dry bed, will remember those who are suffering and donate to the recovery charity of their choice.  Every penny counts.....

Hugs to all,
Mary

My November Class

This will be a very quick post.  I'm in a chili cookin mood so today it's crafting in the kitchen!  I did want to get my cards for the November class posted....sign up early as this one is already filling up.

Everyone is requesting Get Well, Thinking of you and birthday cards for men.  I personally think flowers and ribbon are for everyone, but I think I may be alone on that one.  The top card could be used for about any occasion.  And what I'm stressing on the bottom card is change the papers, change the occasion.  I'm hoping to get a few more made to prove my point....The celebrate card is a good way to use up scraps/snippets....and Lord knows I have a few thousand of those (ok maybe not thousand).

Off to the kitchen I go, have a most wonderful week.  To all o the east coast, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Mother Nature is having a temper tantrum isn't she!  To all my USA friends, don't forget to send in your ballots and if you go to the polls, don't forget to vote.

Hugs to all,
Mary

Rudolph Day

I told myself I would not miss Rudolph day this month and guess what....here I am!  A busy day today and tonight is the first game of the World Series and our San Francisco Giants will be winning Game 1....(or at least I hope they will!).  So, here's my Rudolph Day entry.  I actually rubber stamped.  Can you believe it?  I guess there is hope for me!  The stamp doesn't say the name, but says Petaluma CA, which makes me think maybe PSX.  The moon, was made using the cut out from a circle die I am using for my November class.  I used it as a mask and using Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Lemon and Rusty Hinge to make the moon.  The sky is sponged using Stormy Sky.)  The Reindeer is my newest Memory Box die, the poinsettia is a left-over from a card I made earlier.  The papers are CartaBella snippets from earlier albums and layouts.  Still using up my scraps from albums and layouts I made using CartaBella papers.  Di, here's another snippet card....check out all the other cards made from snippets.  I think you'll enjoy them as much as I do.  Check them out here.

So....until next month (if I remember) Happy Rudolph Day and thank you Sarn for hosting.  If you want to play along and have a chance to win a Penny Black stamp....check it out here

See you soon....

WOYWW 177 - Carta Bella and Pixie's Crafty Workshop

Saturday was Carta Bella Day at Karen's - Paradise Scrapbook Boutique
Well, here we are.  This is the afternoon group, our project was a  2 page lay-out using Carta Bella Christmas Day papers. (If you haven't seen them, might be worth a look at them)    The morning group ran out before photos could be taken, or more truthful, before we remembered to take them. The big kid in the back is Lindsay, the Carta Bella guy who tried keeping us all in line...I think it might have been easier to herd cats.... we did have a good time!
And here's Karen, I'd like to thank her for bringing Lindsay to her shop.  It was a fun day and we left with loads of goodies....

A few days ago, I posted a photo of a card I made using snippets left from making the Christmas album.  Thanks to Lindsay, I have many more snippets and below are a few of the cards I made using them.  I've gotta say, albums are a great way to collect snippets, not that any of us need help collecting them.  I'll be posting these cards on Di's blog....and I hope to spend some time tomorrow seeing what the others have been doing.  Di reminded me that Thursday is Rudolph Day over at Sarn's blog page.  If I get my act together, maybe I can actually make another card....Oh...I just remembered a new Memory Box die I purchased last week....I'll be making a Rudolph card using that...(that is if I don't forget!)  It's not too late, if you want to play along...

I made this card this morning.  I purchased the Spectrum Noir pens and though I haven't been doing much coloring lately, it's always been something that I've enjoyed doing.  I've got to say, using the pens is different than water color and after watching video's I'm learning to get the colors I was hoping for. I'm still working on shading.  So, about this card.  The papers are from CartaBella, the rubber stamp is from Stampabilities and is called Christmas Tale (not new, from 2003)  The dies are from Memory Box and Spellbinder.  All of these cards are made from snippets,

Do you want to see the mess I made making these cards?  It's Wednesday and it's the day to share our work desks...so, thank you Julia for giving us the place to post our little messy work desks.  Check out the other creative desks and see what was created there....and if you're feeling brave....post your little corner of creativity...
Oh....while going through the blue box, I looked through the lid and saw this.....
I always knew there was someone helping me put my projects together.  I had to laugh, I don't remember putting any of these parts in this order, although I do remember putting the epoxy pieces on the pink pad...do you think maybe, while I was sleeping, the pieces crept onto the paper pad?  OK, I can pretend...

Off I go, tomorrow it's supposed to rain and I'm hoping to get into my room to tidy up, and then make another mess playing with my pens and stamps....

Until next time....Happy Creating!
Hugs to all,
Mary

Workdesk Wednesday And The Weeks Are Flying By!

My goodness, it's another Wednesday, where have the days between gone?  I've been working on mini albums, one for Christmas and a Halloween Album, both are finished and I'll share them when I've shown them to the recipients.  Until then....here's a card I worked on this morning.  It's made from the snippets left over after making the Christmas Album.  All the papers used in making the tree are CartaBella Christmas Day Collection.  The background is a beautiful pine green suede.  The border punch is EK Success and it's becoming a favorite.  Not just for Christmas, but I'm seeing tons of uses.  I die cut the pieces for the tree using Spellbinder rectangles both straight and scallop edge.  The scallop was cut using mirror gold.  The base of the card is Paper Accents Brown Bag.  Everything on this card, with the exception of the base is from snippets.  Have a look over at Di's blog and see the creative ways others are using their snippets, and check out all the fun things Di's been up to.  She's been one busy gal, but then what else is new, I'm not sure the woman ever sleeps!

I'm happy with my card, and the albums, but do you want to see the mess I created making them....You might want to be sitting down....
Oh, that's not the only mess.  When one place gets too messy to work, you have to find another spot...
and here's another  little problem I created.  Somewhere one of my dies is hiding.  I've checked the trash and all the normal places.  I'm hoping that the little die fairy will place it back on my now clean desk!  I'm sure it's somewhere hiding, I just haven't discovered where that hiding place might be!  Check out Julia's great blog, and if you have a minute check out some of the folks who bravely post their workdesks.
Saturday Lesley from CartaBella is coming to Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, I'm REALLY looking forward to the layout and the cards.  I'm also looking forward to having a man teaching us gals.  Karen says he's entertaining and very knowledgeable....and there will be prizes and yummy treats.  What better way to spend a Saturday....I think there are some spaces available if you want to come and play.  Give Karen a call.  Check out her blog to see what we'll be making.  Check it out here

Shhhhh don't tell anyone, but Karen got her long awaited shipment of Memory Box dies.  I'll be selling pencils and apples on a street corner to support my Memory Box habit!  I absolutely love them.

Before I forget, and at my age (slightly over 21, by 4 decades) that comes easy...ok... I love Fiskars products and especially the cutters.  I was having a problem with my cutter and I contacted Nikki from Fiskars.  She promptly responded, and settled my problem quickly.  Thank you Nikki and thank you Fiskars.

I don't want my blog to sound like an ad for paper and tool manufactures....I just get soooo excited when I can share the products I love, with fellow bloggers.  If I get too preachie...please let me know...

Ok...putting my soap box away and I'm shortly heading off to bed.

Have a most wonderful and creative week.  I'm sure I'll e-see you very soon.

Hugs to all,
Mary

Workdesk 175 - Can You Believe It!

Another week has come and gone, where is the time going?  I don't want to think about how close Christmas is....sooooo I won't!  So today I'll think about my son Aaron and let you know, it's his birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON!

And now on to Workdesk Wednesday # 175...well, here it is, and it's actually still Wednesday (at least in California!)  Check out Julia's blog page and play along...it's fun to see what everyone is doing.
So that's my desk.  I'm working on a Halloween Accordion Album.  I'm going to surprise someone with it, when it's finished and I do hope that is very soon.  I'm loving these albums, they are quick to make, especially if you use paper packs.  The one I'm using for this album is an 8x8 Graphic 45 Happy Haunting.  I was lucky enough to win the paper pack at Karen's Anniversary party....What fun that was.  This is what I have done so far.....
So, that's what I've been doing the past 2 days.  I want to share a photo from today's class.  Pictured are a group of super talented, very funny, gals who make teaching fun.  I'm proud to call them students but more than that friends.  Thanks ladies for making creating so much fun!

And here's a photo of the great group that joined the 6th. Anniversary Crop at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.  Karen, thanks for another great crop.  Lots of fun, lots of food, lots of prizes, and tons of creativity....Happy Anniversary and MANY, MANY more.  Your shop is the VERY BEST!
If you haven't already signed up for the Carta Bella layout and cards...better get to it.  I'm excited to have a guest instructor....and Karen promises prizes, dessert and more....Here's the page layout.  I don't have photos of the cards....When I do, I'll share the photo.
If I don't get this posted, it'll be Thursday, even in California....So, happy crafting
Hugs to all,

Card Class for October

Hello,

Well, here they are.....staying with the theme, thin and less expensive to mail, here are the cards for my October class at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique on Wednesday the 10th.
and
This is most probably the shortest post I'll ever create, I just wanted to remind everyone of class.  This one you will be doing all the cutting and embossing.  It was brought to my attention that some of you want to learn to make the cards from step one all the way through to completion.  For those of you who want everything done...this won't be a class for you.  Bring a smile and allow yourself extra time...Both cards were fun to make and really quite easy.  But there is lots of die cutting, so eat your Wheatie's!  If you haven't already reserved your spot, do so please.  Give Karen a call.

See you all on Wednesday!
Hugs,
Mary AKA:  Glitter Grammy!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

I've got to tell you, this week has been on super speed and I can't believe I missed posting on Wednesday.  I'll show you my desk, which looked pretty much the same early this morning.  By mid-day I finished the front of this accordion album....still working on the back side.  But I'm happy!
I'm having one of those weeks that I have tons of inspiration, but I feel electrically charged and I am running in several directions, starting lots, finishing little.  I did finish a baby book, but until I gift it to my friend, I can't share it.

I want to get photos of my Wednesday class on line, so I guess I should get busy and get that little item off my to-do list.

Since my hubby has seen very little of me this week...I promised him tomorrow would be date day, and then...Saturday, I'm going to be at an all day Anniversary crop at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.  I'm hoping to sneak peaks at some of the WOYWW blogs later tonight....and if you check out Miss Julia's great sharing place, leave a comment....I know she'd love hearing from you.

Have a most wonderful week....

Mary
