This month's challenge on the
Sparkles Christmas Challenge is "Christmas Animals" and you can thank Pat for this fun challenge. When I first found out the theme of this challenge, I was thinking cute little Christmas bears or kitties. Then I went to a paper pad I just purchased, Graphic45 8x8 Time to Flourish. Well guess what, not one kitty or bear could be found. What I did find was birds and Poinsettias. I know I said, "Darn it all".....and, I put the paper pad aside
I looked through my Christmas stamps and found several, but none called out to me. Then I remembered Many years ago, on one of my visits with my grandson, when he was only about 3,we were playing an educational video and he was naming animals. Guess what appeared....Birds, fish, puppies, bears, kitties....etc. So maybe I was thinking mammals... :-)
Wanting to be absolutely positive that birds are animals, I went to the dictionary and here's what I found.....
Animals are divided into various sub-groups, some of which are: vertebrates (birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish); molluscs (clams, oysters, octopuses, squid, snails); arthropods (millipedes, centipedes, insects, spiders, scorpions, crabs, lobsters, shrimp); annelids (earthworms, leeches); sponges; and jellyfish.
Are you sleeping yet? This educational moment was brought to you by an unsure me...Ok, now on with the challenge.....My animal is this Lovely Christmas Bird. The Cardinal a bird not native to California. However, having been born and raised in the mid-west, Wisconsin to be exact, I loved these birds. The closest we have is the Stellar Blue Jay, I guess the name tells you it's color. Anyway, back to the challenge.....
I've been doing a lot of fussy cutting of late. It's something I can do while I sit in my recliner with a heating pad on my shoulder. Am I lazy or what? This is how I put this card together. It's a Quarter Fold, what I die cut the background using a Poppystamp die. I then layered the tags onto the card and cut the Cardinal and Poinsettia, shaped it and popped it in place. I added another die Pine Bough and another Poppystamp Merry Christmas die. That about covers the front of my card.
Here's what I did on the inside:
More fussy cutting, some dies and a sentiment and this card is ready for the mail.
