Rudolph Day and WOYWW #217

Hello again.  Here's what I made for this month's Rudolph Day.......
Monday I was enjoying our weekly girls crop/chat/eat/laugh day when Rita calmly said, I finished my Christmas shopping.  Let me tell you we all gasp as we swung around to look at her.  She was merrily working on a Christmas card at the time, and I think she said, and I only have two more Christmas cards to make.....thankfully, I'm not the only one still working on cards, and I must say, I've not begun shopping.  Hello.....it's July (ok, almost August!)  So I shall shuffle along making more Christmas cards and I shall begin thinking about Christmas shopping sometime after Thanksgiving.  That said, I used my newest Memory Box dies.  I know, I'm on the Poppystamps Design Team, which by the way is a child of Memory Box.....I've been in love with Memory Box for a very long time, and this year's Christmas/Winter dies do not disappoint.  I am making cards with my Poppystamps, but it's not my turn to post, so you will just have to wait until later this month.

Here's the inside.....

I'm putting on my Elf clothing and heading on over to see what's been going on over at the Rudolph Day Celebration.  How about joining in the fun.  You meet really fun people, share fantastic creations, and.....get some of those Christmas cards made. Now that's Win - Win....

And now that I'm home, I can play along with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, which I really missed while I was away.  It doesn't look like much is going on here, but I have been busy catching up with housework, visiting, playing, designing, and paying bills (yuk).  So here's my desk, you can see several rubber stamps, mostly sentiments and then there is the normal stuff.  Oops, I mean treasures!  Check out what others have been playing with, and if you are brave...join in!  Ok, you don't have to be brave, just willing to share a bit of your world!
This is what I used to make my card.  I am determined to learn how to use all the cool tools for posting product, however, at present....I'm just enjoying making cards.

Until later, Hugs to all, Happy Crafting,

Just Playing Around

Hello and Happy Saturday.  I'm spending my last day of this vacation with my buddy Dee Dee, we are winding down from 5 weeks of play.  Tomorrow she gets on the silver bird and heads home.  So, what did we do today?  We played with paper and stamps, and we made a trip to Paradise Scrapbook Boutique to visit with Karen, who had just returned from CHA....We are looking forward to seeing what she purchased and I'll tell you this time of the year is really exciting for all of us crafters.  In truth, the real reason for the visit, I was having withdrawals from not having seen her for over a month!

I thought today would be a good day to try out one of my new Memory Box dies and a rubber stamp I purchased in Australia.  The rubber stamp was purchased at Wrapped In Paper - A fantastic craft store in Canberra.  Thanks Bridget for sending us to Annette and Gail.  The rubber stamp is from Stamp-It, an Australian Company - Birthday Flow #4788D.

You know I am a MAJOR fan of Memory Box and Poppystamps dies. I'm lucky enough to have been chosen for the Poppystamps Design team and  I'll be posting a few Poppystamps cards in August, but I'm keeping them under wraps until then (dates:  8/24 and 8/31)  Keep an eye out for them...PLEASE.  Until it's my turn, I'll be checking out what all the other crafty ladies  are making.  You can see their posts at Poppystamps

I chose to use this die:
For the outside of the card I cut the die in green, yellow and pink.  Using green as the base, I then layered the colors yellow and pink.  A nice sentiment and frame, don't you agree?  Of course those are the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and a beautiful ribbon I'd purchased from Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.

For the inside, I used the same die, only this time I used only one color, the same color I'd chosen for the base of the card.
I had a few extra pieces, so I gave a few of the flowers a second layer.  I do like how both turned out.

Well that's it for now....tomorrow will be a busy day, heading out early to get Dee Dee to her plane and then Virginia and I will have a play day.  Next week I need to chase dust bunnies....and boy there is a herd of them.

I am going to head over to the playground and hope I can sneak in before the gates slam shut.  Be sure to check out what everyone over there has been up to.  I feel like I'm working my way back to my normal routine when I visit with Di and the gang.

Off for now...hugs to all,
Mary Mac

I'm still here.....just really bad at stopping to post

Hello and happy Thursday from Canberra.  We've been running from morning to night.  I've got lots of photos, but just too tired at the end of the day to write a post.  So, here is a bit of what we've done.
A little fella having lunch at the Steve Irwin Australia Zoo.
And a Dingo.....
My son with you know who.
My grand daughter at her horse riding lesson.
And then there was Fitzroy Falls......
And here we are
Then it was on to Sydney....I think these photos need no explanation.....
See the people at the top walking across?  Do you see me?  Nor do I.... LOL!
And now.....to introduce you to a most talented lady, I met Bridget when I joined the folks at WOYWW... So everyone meet Bridget Lawson....we had a short but very sweet visit and promised to stay in touch and hopefully she and Michael will come to visit us in California.
Bridget, me and Dee Dee.  Isn't the Internet wonderful, sure makes the world much smaller and friendlier.
Final photos are of a little shopping area in Bowral and a yummy little treat we managed to find.

We leave for New Zealand on Monday.....lots is planned between now and then.  I hope topmost a bit of that.

Until next time....hugs to all.

Spirit of the Horse and Movie World

We arrived back in Bowral last night after 4 wonderful days at the Gold Coast in Queensland.  Despite the rain, we had the best time.  The first night was a rainy and we stayed pretty close to the hotel and we had take-away from an Italian restaurant....which I forgot to take photos...sorry!
The next day we spent walking along the ocean
Dee Dee, my son Aaron and grandkids, Bridget and Lachlan.  It was cloudy, but not raining and that was fine with us.  The sand on the beach is so powdery.

At night we were treated to "The Spirit of the Horse" a tribute to Australian History and the importance of horses throughout the country's history.  It is also a tribute to Phar Lap, which gave hope during the depression.  Google for more information.  Definitely a worthwhile read.
and here is a shot of some real horse folk.....yee...haa!
Our final day was spent at Movie World, which is like our Universal Studios.  It rained most of the day, which did not seem to limit the crowds.
Here's the group all ready for the rain.  We went to a stunt show.  And here are some photos from it...
I think the star of the show was this goofy guy, who in the end turned out to be quite the stuntsman.
He reminds me of one of my favorite deputies from my working days.  If any of the gang reads this, I'm sure they will know of whom I speak!  LOL!

From the stunt show it was on to the rides.  Bridget and I loved the Scooby Doo ride, which was a fun indoor roller coaster, with lots of twists and turns.
And then there was a parade.
And Finally, we are on the plane heading back to Sydney....the sunset from the plane was so pretty.
Well, that's it from here......today it's a day to get laundry done and post to blogs and FaceBook.  Tomorrow we are going to Fitzroy Falls.

Until later,  Hugs to all....I am missing my craft buddies and of course my husband, but I'm having a wonderful time....almost forgot, I'll have some fantastic news when I get home.....

Hugs,
Mary Mac
