Christmas Album

A quick share....
I am so very proud of the job Karen and I did creating this album.  I can't share the entire album now.  If you want to see the album,  it is on display at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.   There will be three dates to take the class.  The first date is December 21.  For those who need a gift, this would be a beautiful album. The two remaining dates are yet to be determined.  I'm sure sometime shortly after Christmas or early January, just in time for all the photos taken during the Holidays.

Do you recognize the cover?  It's Tim Holtz., but we modified it to accommodate our design.  We used nearly a full 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 paper pad, there are loads of embellishments, lots of tags and ribbon.  And I can't forget the glitter....can you imagine me making anything without glitter!  And for you technique lovers....there's a few in this album.  If you want to know more, stop by Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, Karen will be happy to share all the details.  The number of kits are limited, so if you're interested, I'd suggest signing up quickly.

I'm off, just finished decorating my tree.  Hey, it's only 3 foot tall, so it was pretty easy!  Then I'm off to make some peanut brittle.  I'll be sharing that recipe on the 2nd of December during the Poppystamps Tag Blog Hop.  If I don't see you before, I hope you have time to check out the tags the little Poppystamp Elves have been creating.

Until later,  Happy Crafting....

Happy Thanksgiving - I am so Thankful for you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US buddies.  Here in Northern California we are having summer like temperatures, that hasn't stopped our maple from showing off.  This was taken last weekend.  Want to see what it looks like after a big wind storm?
Now this looks more like winter is coming.  We had our Thanksgiving on Monday.  My son was visiting and he was heading to Dallas on Wednesday.  Here are a few photos of our dinner....
Isn't it fun to set the table for special occasions?  And here is dinner...or I should say was dinner!
Karen offered a class on making these cute little turkeys....I love them....
One holiday just a memory and on to Christmas.  Guess who is waiting for Santa....It's a bit of a wait, you can never start too early....
That's it for today.  I'm off to start addressing Christmas cards and then I'm making peanut brittle.... busy time of the year.  But before I go.....once again, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I can hardly wait to give you a sneak peek  of a mini-album that Karen and I have been working on.  It is SPECTACULAR!

See you again, really soon!
Hugs,
Mary Mac

White on White Tag

I love Christmas.  It's a paper crafters dream season!
I'm not going to say much about this post...at least not here.  If you head over to the Poppystamps blog page you can find out how I made this tag.  It's my day to be the guest designer....and I'm thrilled to share this tag.  I also put a photo of the tag without all the help of the Christmas decorations, makes it a bit easier to see the actual tag!  But isn't it fun to adorn things with decoration?  I think it is!

I do want to say this is a total snippet piece.  The inspiration was the wreathe.  I'd cut it a month or so ago as a test to size it for a project.  I saw it laying in wait on my desk and guess what!  It has found a home.  A bit of Martha's Coarse glitter and it was perfect.  Who doesn't have white snippets laying around?  I know I've got plenty!  Di at Pixie's Crafty Workshop would love it if you shared your creation with all of us playground folk. Thanks also to Di for introducing me to the Chocolate, Coffee and Card Challenge.  I think I may just have to play along after all you can't get much more monochromatic than this tag!  OOPS!  I just read the rules, it's cards only, which is my normal, however, this week I have a tag....but I want you to check out the page, there is a lot of inspiration there!  Maybe you can play along with one of your cards.

Oops....I was so busy glittering, I almost forgot to take a picture of my desk, well the one I'm now working at.
So, let's see, what's there.  My envelope maker is peeking out from the left side.  My tag laying there, my favorite scissors, well one of my favorites!  Christmas decorations, glue and glitter.  A mouse pad my son brought me from the Middle East, it's now the pad I use when I rubber stamp and I think of him whenever I stamp.  A few projects from days gone by, most waiting to be used  on something new.  The corner of my Gazelle is hiding behind the decoration basket, and yes, that jar is filled with ground coffee.  Not for crafting, but for keeping this crafter going.  It will go with me to a crop....I think it's my turn to bring the coffee and creamer!  My favorite ruler, I almost forgot to mention it.

If you don't already know....On Wednesday many of us share our desks with Julia.  If you'd like to play along, I'm sure she'd love seeing your desk too.  If you'd like to just have a look at our desks and what we are making hop around and leave a comment or two with those who inspired you!

Not long now til Christmas.  Hazel keeps us on the up and up, so that we have a few items made for the holidays.  If you'd like to join in....I'm sure there is always room for one more crafter.

WOYWW #232

Way too much excitement.....
Ok, maybe not....I've been working all week on projects for Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.  This weekend is the BIG Gift Workshop. I'm looking forward to seeing what Karen and the gang have been working on.  So, what's on my desk?   I guess there is the usual, and then a tag I'm working on, and two packs of blades for my cutter.  I knew I had them in my stash, but put them in the wrong place and finally found them.  There is a new color chart I downloaded from Spectrum Noir and my tool box hanging off the bottom of the photo.  A mini mister, which I used when dry embossing something, my stand for my Ipad.  A Santa that I cut out because I was having a problem staying inside the lines and a Santa that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with him.  So that's about it.  Exciting no?

If you want to know why anyone would show a desk that is a mess....check out Julia's blog page and you will see lots of desks in various stages of creativity.  Let's just say, it's a Wednesday thing.  WOYWW 232.

I'm off to pick up a friend from the hospital.  I hope her procedure went well and there is good news for a change.

Until sooner or later,
Hugs,

PoppyStamps Digital Blog Blitz

Did you know Poppystamps offers Digital cutting dies?  Well they do, and if you are one of those Digi Folks, you might just want to head over to the PoppyStamps Blog page to see what all the excitement is about.  These dies are compatible with most Electronic cutting machines. I'm excited to see what the Design Team has created.  And I heard it from a very reliable source, there are PRIZES!

Check out the Poppystamps Blog page for inspiration and to find out how you too can be a winner!

I'm off to bed, I had a very busy and crafty day today.  Lots of kits were made for Paradise Scrapbook Boutique's Annual Gift Workshop....I can't wait!  But then, I guess I will have to!

Until next time, hugs and Happy Crafting,

No Christmas Today. It's A Birthday!

This is a card I made for my friend Michael.  He is a part of our local choral group. That was my inspiration.   So, Happy Birthday Michael.

Most of you know I am not a fan of making cards for men.  Where are the flowers?  Where is the ribbon?  Where is the Bling?   Geez.....Well, I couldn't go without adding a bit of shine.  This card was made with snippets left over from one of my card classes.  And while digging through my snippet box, I found the shiny card stock that just happened to match....lucky break for me!

You heard me say snippets....and if you are a regular follower, you know that means this card will be linked to a fun blog page, that is monitored by a sweet gal named Di.  This week she posted a white on white card....I guess this one could be called blue on blue!  Check out Di's page, and if you have time skip around to see the other creations made with snippets.  We all love comments, especially friendly ones...so, maybe you could give a shout out to some of those who shared their creations.  Everyone....meet Di and her Pixie's Crafty Workshop!

Until later.....Hugs and Happy Crafting!

Santa Made It to a card!

A few days ago, I colored this Santa and I was excited to put him onto a card, but the image is so large I had a problem finding the perfect way to display him.  He fits perfectly on Spellbinders Romantique die.  here's the problem....it is a bugger getting the paper to release from the die.I didn't want to tear the image, especially since I'd taken forever to color it...I put freezer paper against the die, then taped my image to the freezer paper.  Much easier to release the image and no tears, or tears!  Isn't it odd they are spelled the same?  Hmmmmm!  Anyway, getting back on topic....I love coloring on 28 pound Hammermill Color copy digital paper.  It's really smooth and I can blend more easily.  Another reason sticky dies are a problem.  the freezer paper solved the problem.  I added some bling and some glitter and did some pen work and a little sentiment and the outside is done...now for the inside.....
Pretty simple, a border punch and a sentiment and it's done.  Best of all, with the exception of Santa, everything is done using up "stuff".  I shall head over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop...If I hurry I can make it before the gates slam closed. I'm also skipping over to Crafty HazelNut's Christmas Challenge and posting my little Santa.

Have a crafty weekend....Hugs,

WOYWW 231 - Spending the evening with Santa

This past week has been one I really don't want to re-live.  My brother had back surgery in Wisconsin (about 2000 miles away).  The surgery went well, the recovery not so much.  After two very scary days, it was discovered he had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia.  Not something any of us worried about as he went to surgery.  We were all praying that the back pain he's suffered for 30 years would finally come to an end.  Long story short, several days on the critical list, he is slowly recovering.  FYI:  the medical term is Anesthesia Malignant Hypothermia.  It's a very interesting read on WebMd.  I want to thank my  friends for letting me vent during this stressful time.

Ok....that said, my buddy Virginia purchased a new stamp.  Yesterday she was playing with the stamp and I asked if she would stamp Santa for me.  As you can see she did.  My honey and the two four legged angels are tucked snugly in their beds.  I'm not sure sugar plums are dancing in their heads.  I suspect Sydney is dreaming that she actually caught the pesky neighbor cat that taunts her daily.  So it is now quiet time for me, so I am coloring.  Nothing is more relaxing. This Santa is a Stampendous Rubber Stamp, Jolly Santa # R156.  He is colored with my Spectrum Noir Pens.  I did purchase the new set and I am liking them.  Easier to hold, much more wet, so blending is easier.

I apologize for the photo....I'm sitting at a small desk in the family room, watching late night TV, with my task light shining on my desk in a room lit only by that light, and the colored flickers coming from the television.
So lets see what's on my desk.  A cloths pin...hmmmm, it's what I use to hold the pretzel bag closed.  Under it is the prescription advisor I received when I went for my flu shot, and a pretzel.  Of course the Spectrum Noir pens, and Santa.  Then there's the watch and a covered cup, which I am now using to hold hot and cold items.  I had a bit of an accident coloring and decided that coffee stains don't add a thing to my coloring.  There's a calendar I made for 2013, and I'm using it to think about what I shall make for 2014.  So, that's it.  Not overly exciting.

I'm off to bed.  I'll link this to Julia's fun place to meet in the morning.  Night night all, I hope your Wednesday is happy, safe, and crafty.  How about hopping over to Stamping Ground and giving Julia a shout out. It is fun to play along, so how about it.....want to come and play?  It's a busy day tomorrow.  I have 4 birthday cards to think about making, I hope something comes to me while I am sleeping!

Hugs from a quiet night in Northern California,
