Christmas Year Round, Operation Write Home and Mojo Monday 149

Hello,
I spent today putting kits together for Operation Write Home. Tomorrow is our get-together at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. I decided to start working on Christmas cards. The cards need to be at OWH no later than October 30th. I have 25 kits ready to assemble. While reading Mojo Monday, I decided to put one more Christmas card together using Mojo Monday's Challenge 149. I also found this new to me challenge: Christmas Year Round. The challenge is to make 5 cards....well here are three of the 5. I need to get busy and get two more done, but first.... After a day of cutting and gluing...I am ready for bed.
Have a great week.

Stamp Simply Sketch and For Fun Challenge

My goal for the past two years has been to color all my rubber stamps and catalog them in my computer. Last night I colored this one. It is a Hook's Lines and Inkers stamp. Cute little sunflowers. Today I saw this challenge: Stamp Simply #148 . I just found this fun Wednesday challenge: For Fun. http://forfunchallenges.blogspot.com My favorite way to color is using my Tombow markers and water pens. I also use Tim Holtz Distress inks. Googled Hook's Lines and Inkers and couldn't find anything. I'm thinking I must have a collectible stamp. A very cute one!

My honey and I are off for a Friday Night dinner with friends. Tuesday is my class day at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. Check out my June 26th page for information on the class Enjoy your week. See you soon! .

Wedding Card Challenge at Pals Paper Arts

Today on Pals Paper Arts the challenge is Wedding Theme. I love making wedding cards. This year there have been many weddings and each card I make is my favorite.....this card was made for my niece. I posted the entire set (card, gift card and box) on May 16th. If you'd like to see them check my May posts.
I'm off to Weight Watchers.....I'm not looking for miracles today....but I hope I held last weeks loss. The heat and lack of physical activity aren't helping with this journey!
Have a great day and check out all the wonderful Wedding entries in this week's challenge!

Sunny Day and Sunflowers

Today was SOS (Sisterhood of Scrappers) at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique it's always a fun day with people who share the love of paper. Yesterday while my computer was updating to Windows 7, I cut the sunflowers from my newest Spellbinder Die - Sunflower Set Two. At the time I was cutting, I really had no plan, other than to use up some of my scraps. Today I packed up my craft bag and threw the sunflowers in, just in case I had time to work on them. Not only did I find the time, this card is the only thing I did today. OK....not the only thing, we chatted and laughed and shared our projects with the others. Everyone was busy working on albums, while I struggled (and yes, I do mean struggled...with this card. When I finished....I gotta say....I love it.
Karen shared a doily that she had, it was a bit big, so I cut it to size and seamed it with the ribbon. A perfect addition....thanks Karen! The papers were all purchased from her shop the flowers are all scraps from Bo Bunny. I don't remember the name of the stripe paper, of course I cut off the title strip....and now I can't find it. The ribbon and butterfly are also from Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. The sentiment is from a stamp by Annette Allen Watkins. The flowers and the edges of the papers were all chalked using Color Box - Pumpkin.
That's it for now.....Enjoy the card. Tomorrow I'll be trying to figure out why my scanner won't work with Windows 7 and I'm going to install the newest version of Funtime for my Gazelle. Keep your fingers crossed....I'm not very good at this technical stuff....I just want it to work, I don't care how it works (Sorry all you tech folks....but think of it this way...I'll keep you all employed!)
Have a wonderful week! It's supposed to be 100 plus by Thursday....a great time to stay inside and play with paper!
See you later!

Happy Birthday Carolyn

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROLYN.......

My buddy Carolyn celebrated her birthday a bit early....so, today on the actual date of the wonderful event....I say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a wonderful person and a great friend.
A few of us got together to celebrate at Applebee's. Great lunch!

This is the card I made. I love this stamp, Art Impressions U-1552 - from 1996. So, you ask....do I have any new stamps? Define new! Well, yes I do, but I sure do love my old ones too. And since most of my friends are over 50, this stamp fits all of us perfectly! It was stamped on water color paper using Staz-On ink and clear embossed. Water colored using Tombow markers. and yup...there's a Spellbinder label!
I'm off to clean house. I'm having my computer worked on tomorrow and I guess I should make it easier for the tech to find it. I hope Windows 7 is as good as everyone reports. Maybe it can correct the constant problem of loosing my DVD recorders (in both computers). Sometimes I just don't like computers....other times....like right now....I love them!
Have a wonderful week!

Happy Birthday Linn

My daughter's boy friend is having a birthday. This is the first BD we've shared with him. He works long hours and they just moved, so between work and home he has been kept hopping. I've had this rubber stamp for some time (Art Impressions - 1996 P1557, and though I really like it, I just didn't have the perfect place for it. I struggle with cards for boys. I'm into pastel colors, flowers and lots of bling. None of which is on this card....I'm pleased! I'm sure he'll like this card....I'm positive he'll like the card inside!

I'm loving water coloring my rubber stamps. Thanks to Kim Teasdale and a class she taught through My Creative Classroom. The class was wonderful. If you have a desire to learn how to get the most out of your Tombow markers....Kim can show you! Thanks Kim!

I guess I should think about making dinner. Have a great week.....

Sun Flower Die by Spellbinder

I'm loving this die....Sunflower Set One and Two....I picked them up today at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. This card went together very easily. The flower from Set One nearly fills a quarter fold card, but there's just enough room for a small sentiment. I haven't used my dry chalks in forever, this was the perfect place. I can see lots of uses for these dies.....
Off I go, I'm headed off to bed. Tomorrow is a busy day, Weight Watchers, lunch, shopping....boy....retirement isn't for the weak! LOL!

Christmas In July

July is the month I begin thinking about Christmas. I'm not a fan of hot, hot summers and today we in Northern California are having just that....Mojo Monday's sketch was just what I was looking for. I've been thinking about the Christmas cards I'd be making for Operation Write Home. The sketch was perfect and it looked like one where I could use my Christmas scraps.

I have a Santa rubber stamp by Stamps Happen. It's one of my all time favorite Santa stamps. I water colored the image and using my Spellbinder square die, I cut Santa and embossed him. While the die was secured to the image, I sponged Tim Holtz Distress Ink around the edges. I didn't have a sentiment small enough to fit this card, using my Print Shop 23 Program, I created the sentiment and then die cut and embossed it. I added a border using my Spellbinder scallop oval and of course....Bling!

I did take some poetic license with the sketch (noticed that did ya!). I reversed the square and the oval size, but all the elements are there. I looked at all my Christmas stamps and Santa kept calling to me. He was too big to fit an oval, but looks great in the square....I'm happy with how the card turned out and now I'm on to water coloring more Santas....

Have a most wonderful week.

Fourth of July Inspiration - PPA49

In June I posted these two photos. I needed to get my card sent off to my grand kids....Today on Pals Paper Arts the challenge is Fourth of July Inspiration. The photo of my grand daughter inspired me to make the above card.
One of my loves this year is my participation in Operation Write Home. For more information check out my post from yesterday. Fourth of July is the perfect time to thank those who sacrafice to keep us free. To those serving and the families of those who serve, may God bless you and keep you safe. I pray for your safe return home.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!
