Boy this was a stretch....do you see the flowers? They are very small.....This card did not start out to be a butterfly and flower card. It started as a Sunburst card, which I will reluctantly show you at the end of this post. This card was made with the bits and pieces left over, or as Di calls them Snippets.
Last night I started on a card that I thought would be very easy. Well guess what, it wasn't. I cut and cut and glued and glued and was not happy with the end result. I decided that this card would not go into the trash bin, I would take the bits left over and create something. Note: The pieces on the left started as 1 1/2 inches x 4 inches. I cut and cut and arranged and rearranged for hours. I am not exaggerating, it was hours. I was determined to finish this card before going to bed. Well the above is what I did to make the outside. And below, is the inside.....
It's not the best card I've ever made, but it's one I will keep. Now, do you want to see what I originally made? It too was made from snippets. Trust me it's not what I envisioned. Even if I take my glasses off, it doesn't look any better....are you ready?
You know I have a thing about always finishing the inside....well here it is. Keep your glasses off, and if you don't wear any...squint...it might help!
No I was not drinking when I put this together.....maybe I should have been!
I'm going to share this with Valery's Butterfly Challenge and with Di and the Snippet Challenge. (well I will when she opens the gate. I tried shimming under once, but she caught me....Darn guard goose!)
I'm going to add some photos of a squirrel that was pulling twine out of our tree. We tie bits to branches just so we can see the squirrels trying to figure out how to make off with the pieces. Since a storm is on the way, I'm thinking "Barb the Builder" has plans for reinforcing her nest.
She spent considerable time getting this 2 foot piece into a ball.
Perfect, now how does she get it off the branch?
Keep pulling......
Done and heading home.... Love our little furry friends!
Until next time....have a crafty day and how about sharing your creations.
Hugs from Me to You,

Your disappointment, my gain as I get another entry from you for my Butterfly world. I can see those flowers just fine and love the decorated inside and the little patchwork panel. Thank you so much for fluttering by. hugs Mrs A. (butterfly challenge).
ReplyDeleteNow what is so wrong with your lovely sunburst card? I love the inside just as it is and you should have entered it the TechniqueTwist challenge as it was a worthy entrant. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteah great cards both of them Mary well don you.. really must try and join Mrs A.s first challenge somehow love Shaz in Oz.x
ReplyDeleteOh an meant to say so many thanks for the squirrel pickies they made my day :D Shaz.xx
ReplyDeleteYour cards are all pretty, and I see the flowers! I love the tilted panels on the inside too! Those squirrel pics are hilarious and how clever of you to entice them with twine bits! You are the snippet queen for doing that :)
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely beautiful Mary l see you as so talented and the photos you show too are lovely xx
ReplyDeleteHi Mary . . . I would be happy to have made either of these cards - I think they're both fab. Can't see anything wrong with them at all.
ReplyDeleteGreat squirrel pictures! Fascinating.
Hope you stayed safe during the storm.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
These cards are both delightful I would not be disappoiuntd in either of them.
ReplyDeleteI always love black and white or black white and a colour! I think it makes the colour pop!
Your butterflies are wonderful on the first and so glad you are taking it over to Mrs A's. I plan to join you all over there soon.
The sunburst card is great too and I LOVE the inside!
Me again. Forgotto say the squirrel piccies are wonderful. We have a couple that play in our garden...I will have to try the string idea!
ReplyDeleteDid you tie the twine to the branch specifically for the squirrel to come and have a go at it or did it have some other purpose? I just love wildlife... right up until the scratch and scamper over the roof at night and wake me up. Black and white is so much fun.... and can be such a pill at times. I think it is all the small patterns that make your sunburst card not up to your standards. It's a bit eye boggling, but it is fun. The butterfly card is very cute! I like the patchwork on it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and entertaining post, Mary! I, too, love those darn squirrels and never even considered doing something like this for added entertainment! Thank you for the idea!!
ReplyDeleteNow your cards. Honestly, you are TOO hard on yourself! I think they are both fabulous!! And the inside all akilter like that is on-trend and the rage right now, so you ROCK!! Hope to see you at the Playground this week, I missed last week, first time in a long time that I missed one. Enjoy! Hugs, Darnell
Fantastic cards Mary - BOTH of them! As Darnell says, you're too hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteGreat squirrel piccies too :))

Hugs, Di xx
I really like your paper piecing and layering on both cards! Love how you do your insides and out too! What fun shots of your little furry friend. I can watch mine from my computer room. They are the cutest. Love watching them talk with their tails too.
