Ok everyone, get up off the floor! Yes, I can rubber stamp and color. I just haven't done it in awhile. Today Brenda brought her Spectrum Noir Alcohol ink pens over and we played. I have to say, I'm new at this, I've been a Tombow girl myself and I've been fighting the urge to try the alcohol ink pens. I've got to say, I am impressed.... What is most impressive....I die cut and embossed the pumpkin on orange card stock. The leaf and tendril was also orange. I took a green pen and started coloring over the orange....Can you believe it? I couldn't! Amazing! Now, I need to save my pennies so I can purchase the pens. I don't know the difference between Copic and Spectrum Noir, does anyone? With the exception of color, these pens look the same, are refillable...there aren't as many colors, but there are plenty....If anyone can educate me to the difference, I'd appreciate it.
So, how'd I make the card? With the exception of the card base, everything is made from snippets. It's funny, I've been saving the stripe piece for a long time. Only it was the other since I planned on using. I think the stripes are perfect for this card. The sentiment is a Hampton Art stamp that came from a clearance bin. The scarecrow is from Stampendous. I probably bought this stamp 12 or more years ago. The pumpkin is a Cuttlebug die and embossing folder, as is the maple leaf peeking out from the inside. Yes, that is a Spellbinder die or two....I'm going to post this card over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop. I know there will be lots of friends posting there. You might want to check it out, after all....I know you have snippets too! The gals I've met there are so much fun and you can skip onto the playground and have a go on the swings.
I know I don't look a day over 35 (now is where you say...35! I was sure you were younger than that!) but....I had a birthday, and it was so much fun hearing from my kids and grand kids, family and friends, opening cards, going out to dinner with the neighbors and enjoying the beautiful flowers. I have to smile every time I walk past my dining room table....Isn't it beautiful! Thank you everyone who made my birthday so special. I love you all!

Brenda brought a bouquet that someone had given her. She thought I might want to disassemble it and she was sure I could find a good use for some of the parts. This is what she gave me....
And this is what I saved......
I'm sure I can find a good way to use these flowers....I guess I should get off to bed. Tomorrow I'm cropping with the Monday group and going out for another birthday lunch....I love birthdays!
Sending happy crafting wishes to all....and don't forget, it's not too late to enter my blogaversary give-away. Check previous posts for exactly how to enter!
Hugs to all,

Hi Mary, what a brilliant Autumn make! Love your scarecrow and the papers and colours are gorgeous! Isn't it strange, early yesterday morning I trotted out to feed our neighbours' cats for them as they're off on a holiday and the air had that Autumn freshness and a slight nip too. I actually find Autumn and Spring are my very favourite seasons of the year anyhow.
ReplyDeleteI can't help with the Spectrums or Copics question, I'm a Pro Marker gal - they aren't refillable though :(
Have a lovely Monday, it's a Bank Holiday here - although I shall be sewing rather than playing in the craft room.
Love, Di xx
Oooer, I forgot to say the most important thing - 'Belated Happy Birthday Mary'!! Hugs, Di xxx
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday wishes going your way from across the pond Mary. Sounds like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin card is great!
Copics/Promarkers/Spectrum Noirs are ALL alcohol ink pens . . . the colours are different (with a smaller or larger range), the nibs are different. Promarkers are not refillable, Spec Noirs definitely are, but I'm not sure about Copics.
I mainly use Promarkers, but I'm considering buying Spec Noir pens as they are A LOT cheaper than Promarkers in the UK.
Take your pick and away you go. xxx
Happy Birthday dear Mary.... etc, etc!! Hope you have a wonderful birthday week, looks like you got lots of lovely cards and flowers too. Love the scarecrow card, I love Autumn, my favourite time of year. I had to wonder what blame you were laying at my feet now, and then I realised it wasn't me this time, lol!! I've never used any type of alcohol pens so I can't offer any advice.

Love your pumpkin. They are just beginning to appear in the shops over here now. Very autumn feel to the air and damp on the cars roofs of a morning. Rained here most of the day so a typical Bank holiday Monday!
ReplyDeleteHugs Mrs A.
Happy Birthday Mary. It looks like you had a good one!
ReplyDeleteI do wish you hadn't mentioned Autumn. We haven't had our Summer yet, well, only in small portions anyway!
Gorgeous card. Not tried Spectrum Noir pens but I do love Copics. The SN ones sound good that you can refill them has to be a bonus!
xx
Gorgeous Autumn make Mary, love the pumpkin. Great use of your snippets. Carol x
ReplyDeleteCrawled through the door on my hands and knees after my long drive. Went to tuck the pen 6 paks on their little shelf and yep, those slippery packages slipped. Pens all over hell! Believe I actually foamed at the mouth for awhile. Jerry and the dog hid....B.
ReplyDeleteWell Happy Birthday and you are blessed with love of family and friends!
ReplyDeleteI love your darling Autumn make! That scarecrow no matter how old he is perfect for fall! Goes so well with the papers! Great use of snippets too!

A beautiful card, Mary! I love it! Hope you had a fab birthday x
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, GG! You are well loved! Your card is beautiful, fab use of snippets, and interesting info on the markers. I, too, have been hesitant to get into the expense of the Copics, but I imagine it's only a matter of time! I've never heard of Spectrum Noirs, but it's good to know Copics has some competition finally. I'm off to check them out ... thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow those flowers you got are beautiful !
