Monday Monday.....

My plan for this morning was to walk with our walking group....however, the day began with rain and wind....so, what could I do? I started reading blog pages which always inspires me....and of course it's Monday....which means Mojo Monday Challenge. I hope this fits the bill....

My daughter called yesterday to say she and Linn are engaged. She said the proposal was in the butterfly exhibit at the Chicago Zoo. That was my inspiration for the butterflies on these cards. The wedding will be in June or July of 2012....I'm excited! Linn will make a great son-in-law!

Karen - Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, temped me with the new Prima Marketing DP - the Madeline collection. Mind you, I am easily tempted! The large flower is also Prima, the two smaller are from my stash. The pick is from Little Yellow Bicycle - flower stick pins. The doily is from Cheery Lyn Designs - the French Pastry die.

The butterfly and the leaves are Martha Stewart punches, the ribbon from my stash...which of course was purchased at PSB....Karen has the best ribbon! And the very best prices on the ribbon. The pearls are from Want 2 Scrap.

When I started I'd planned on making two identical cards, but as I was beginning to put glue on the back of the music sheet, I realized those flowers were too pretty to cover and the birthday card was born.....

Sometimes when I have a vision of a finished card, it just doesn't turn out the way I plan, these two cards are exactly as I saw them.

Ok....it's not raining.....should I call the girls? Or........should I head back into my studio to play? I'm sure we can walk later..... :-)

Tomorrow it's Operation Write Home Day....I hope to see everyone then.

Take care....Hugs,

Mary

Mojo Monday - I'm just Square

It's nice being square. This card is for a special friend, and Mojo Monday's challenge is square or round. I'm not spot on for the sketch, but pretty close...does that count?

I love the Marianne Design embossing/cutting folders, which is how I made the background of this Twisted Easel card. The butterflies are also Marianne Design. Designer paper is Graphic 45, Flowers are Prima, ribbon is from Karen at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, as are the pearls .

Now, on to something odd in my neighborhood. Does anyone know what that bright orb in the sky might be? It's been sooooo long I'm not sure I know what it is.
And have a look at this.....blue sky, nothin but blue skies do I see.....
Well....out I go, lots of branches down, my house is a total mess. So busy day so I can go and play tomorrow. Operation Write Home at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. Oh....speaking of PSB... she's now on Facebook....give her a look.

Until later...have a wonderful week.

Spellbinder and Gina K

One of my emails today brought me to a Gina K - Thank You Blog Hop - the projects shown combined Gina K Stamps and Spellbinder dies. You might want to check out the projects... they are inspiring. Since Christmas, I've had the Spellbinder Ornament and coordinating stamp set by Gina K Designs. Today was the perfect time to play with them. I'm trying to make a Christmas card a week (note...I am a bit behind...like about 10!)

I stamped the Heirloom Ornament on an off-white card stock with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo. using my stamp positioner I stamped again using VersaMark Dazzle - Frost and heated the image after applying clear embossing powder. After die cutting with the Spellbinder Ornament die, I kept the die in place and sponged the Vintage Photo ink over the image. The card stock and designer papers are scraps that were left after playing along with the last Mojo Monday Challenge. Off I go....2 cards down and 50 more to go!

Have a great week....
