What's On My Workdesk? I'm afraid you might be a bit disappointed!

See, I told you.  Nothing much going on here, although, I am on my way to Chico to teach a class at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique and then on Thursday morning I'm on my way to visit my daughter and her husband and see their new home.  Not to mention, I'll be seeing my son, grandson, daughters-in-law, nieces and great nieces and nephews and my sister and brother.  Lots to do and sadly, I won't be there very long.  So not much sleeping, and lots of catching up.

My workdesk doesn't look so busy, but trust me, it's only because I want to leave my room somewhat tidy.  I hate coming home to a mess.  Anyway, I'm sure by now my followers know about WOYWW, and if you don't, here's a link to bring you up to speed.   It's fun to share, so how about it?  So you know, sometimes our desks are tidy, but most often they are not.  A mess means there is work going on and that is always good.

Before I go, I want to share a card I made as a bonus card for this month.  When I come home, I'll be teaching a class on creating. For this card, I want to show people that little scraps can make cards and Christmas is the best time to get the most from your scraps.  So here's the card I made with bits of paper, scraps of gold and tiny pieces of ribbon.  What the girls don't know, there will be homework!   So, here's the card.....
and here's the inside.....
I think I may just pop in on Ms. Di and catch up.  I know lots has been going on there.  I have been following her posts, but on my iPad, it isn't always easy to post comments, especially with two dogs on my lap....If you haven't found Di and Pixie's Crafty Workshop, I'd suggest you put this link on your reading list.  Always lots going on, her blog is filled with humor and tons of creativity.  So, check it out, I think you will be very happy you did....so, here's the link.  If you want to play along, there's really only one rule you must use snippets.

This is it for now....I'll see you here again in a week or so....I will be checking the internet to see what you've all been doing, even if I don't leave a comment, please know, I'll be looking in.

Until next time.....Happy crafting,
Hugs from Me to You...

Wednesday? Who said?

Ok, I have been in organize mood.  I blame my friend Virginia for that.  So, today I decided it was time to get my act together.  Sadly, there were no before photos, trust me, it was a real pig pen!  Well, here is the after.....
My play room is far from fancy, it works for me and I love it.  My husband said he doesn't know how I find anything.....name one thing, I can tell you exactly where it is. He says I have 100 pounds of stuff (not the word he used) in a 20 pound bag... he may be right!

I haven't been visiting my blog friends for awhile.  Lots going on in my life, friends with illness, a pup that has been really ill, lots of projects I've been working on.  Just lots.  And, One vacation taken and another just around the corner.  So, I'm trying to get everything done before I go.

Well, trust me, this won't look this way long, but for now....here's my work desk(s).  Now if you are wondering why in the world would anyone share this....I'll tell you, check out Stamping ground.  Miss Julia hosts a weekly share.  We normally show what we are working on.  Well, I was working on my room.  Now, if you want to see what others are doing, click on over to Stamping Ground and have a look see.

Yesterday I worked on card kits for my October class.  I can't show you the mess I made, but here are the cards for October.....
This one is sticking with my flat is better on my pocketbook theme.  I love vintage and these paper are perfect....
Last year one of the gals I make cards with made a card with tri-angle trees. I really liked what she did.  Well, this is my take on the tri-angle tree.

I guess since I've been busy in my little room, it's time now to get busy making dinner.  We might get rain tomorrow (finally) and I want to be able to have an entire day to play inside.  I love crafting in the rain!

Until next time, hugs from me to you!

My Desk Doesn't look Too Messy...does it?

See, I'm creating and it isn't too messy yet...note, yet is the key word.  I stopped to take this photo before I forgot and cleaned up.  Trust me, by the time I finish making two cards, you will not see the top of the desk.  What I'm making will go live on 9/1/2014 so, hidden under the rubber stamp is the beginning of the card.  A hint, could be a Christmas Card or two.  Another hint, could be on Sparkles Christmas Challenge.

Nuff said.....so, what do you see?  My electric die cutter, some sticky embossing powder that is supposed to be perfect to use with gilding flakes.  I haven't used it yet, but I hope it does work as advertized.  Then there is a bag of things I cut off last years Christmas cards.  I am hoping to upcycle them at some point.  Paper pieces, paper cutter, glue, my iPad, an Iris foled star that I made several years ago, just can't part with it.  And stuff.  So now you know what's on my desk....so what's on yours?

I am heading over to shamelessly share my work desk with the world.  I stand loud and proud.  Not because it's a mess, but because I am actually creating something!  How about you get creative and hop over to get all the how's and why's from Ms. Julia.

Out I go to have a look around and see who is messy and who is way too neat!
Until next time....Hugs from me to you,

How Do You Store Your Dies? And....WOYWW

It's not quite Thursday, close, but not quite!  So....here's my desktop for WOYWW  If you follow me at all, you know that on Wednesday, we crafters get together and share what our workdesk looks like.  Today mine is kind of boring, but at least it's somewhat organized.  What you see are items I'm hoping to use to make a card for my September class.  Note, I did say "hoping".  I always have great ideas, but my ideas sometimes need major changing.  I will post my card when it is finished.  Then you can see how much I actually used.

I've been in an organizing mood of late and this week I am working on organizing my dies.  I hate to tell you how many there are.  Lets just say more than some....So, I am organizing them by manufacturer and then by kind, i.e. holiday, animal, flowers, frames, etc.  I started with my Poppystamps and my Memory Box dies.  Next I will be doing Spellbinders and then...probably Die-namics.  Here's what I've done so far.....

I'm putting the dies into plastic sleeves.  The Poppystamps and the Memory Box dies are easy as I've saved the envelopes they came in. My other dies are being stored on magnetic sheets.  I write the name of each die using a white paint pen.  I've been doing this for a long time, Finally I decided to take them from the boxes and put them into binders.  Trust me, the binders are heavy, so I do hope the binders will hold up well.
And this is how I'm labeling the binders.
Notice one of the Poppystamps binders is a different color.  I always keep the new release in a separate binder.  This makes it easy for me to remember what is new.

So, I'm on my way to die organization.  I've finished organizing my papers, Maybe next I'll move on to my rubber stamps.  Or maybe I'll take a break and play.  That sounds like a better idea!

So, here's a question....how do you store your dies?  I'd love it if you shared....

Well, if I'm going to get my post on line before the clock strikes 12:00, I'd best hurry.

Happy Crafting, make sure you check out Julia's blog to see what everyone has been sharing.  I'm off to see what's on everyone's workdesk this week.

Hugs from Me to You,

What's On My Workdesk...

A mess, that's what's on my workdesk.....
On Monday I went to crop with the girls.  I still have not put "my toys" away.  But if I've learned anything on my crafting journey, it's this....they will wait for me.

I'm thinking they will be waiting for the weekend as tomorrow I have a class and then Thursday a doctor's appointment and a visit with a friend.  Maybe I should just close the box and post the card that is waiting patiently....Everything else can wait.

It's been awhile since I've linked to WOYWW.  I wonder if Julia will remember me.  It's nice being back....I'm off to link with Ms Julia....She may not be ready for early morning company as she is recovering from a big birthday celebration....If you are brave...well you don't really need to be brave...if you want to share your desk, link your post here....and then be sure to leave a comment, so Julia knows you were visiting.

I'm off for now, have a most crafty week and if you have nothing planned....come and play!

Hugs,

Rudolph Day, WOYWW and Pixie's Crafty Workshop

I'm going to start by saying 5th Happy Anniversary to Julia and Happy whatever year you began sharing with WOYWW....You've all made Wednesdays so much fun, and Julia, thank you for being the special person you are.  If it weren't for you...Wednesdays would just be Wednesday!

I'll show you my desk in a minute....here is what I made for Rudolph Day!
I wanted to use up scraps, and I wanted to play with techniques.  The inspiration for this card was the striped bottom.  When I turned the paper over, I was thrilled to find the newspaper print on the reverse side.  I wanted to use rubber stamps, stencils, embossed images, dies, and layers.  As you can see I managed to do all of the above.  And here is the inside......
It's not too late, you can add your card to Rudolph Day, but hurry, because the last day of this month is the last day you can play along (at least for this month).

Ok, you've seen the finished project, here's how it all began.....
Not too messy today, and if you are a normal follower, you will notice I'm working  on a different desk.  This is the desk I use when I do my die cutting.  It's also the desk I use when I need to be standing more than sitting and today is that day.

I am going to pop over to Pixie's Crafty workshop and post this card which was made with snippets.  The only piece that might be iffy, is the inside black layer....I had to cut it from an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of black card stock.  Otherwise....All snippets.

Oops!  I think I was one card short on the Rudolph Day Challenge.  See, it pays to read the rules!  So, I ran, and when I say ran, I am not kidding, back to my craft room.  A few months back I made a card I really liked, so I made 3.  I had lots of pieces left, so I put them in an envelope to save for later.... Today became later.....Sarn, I appologize for not having two cards.  So...here is #2.
I added a bit of bling and this card is the same but different.  I'd show the inside, but it isn't quite  finished  and my honey wants me to think about dinner....I guess all the yard work he did while I was playing made him very hungry!  Next month, I will read the directions....I promise!

These are the challenges I entered:
WOYWW - 5th Anniversary
Pixie's Crafty Workshop - Must Use Snippets
Rudolph Day - A Christmas Card

Thanks ladies for hosting these wonderful places to play!

So that's it for me today.  I'm off to see what everyone has been posting.
Happy Crafting,

Boring Desk This Week

I told you it was boring.  I'm packing today to leave for San Francisco.  So, I'm trying to tidy up a tad.  Sydney still knows that nothing will stop the tennis ball playing.  Getting my morning started with coffee and I'm soon heading out the door to get my hair tamed a bit....Sun is shining, birds are singing and my world is happy!

I hope that next week my desk looks a bit busy.  Maybe I'll share a photo or two from my visit with my son!

Happy crafting....be sure to share your world on Julia's site.  Lots of good things happening there I am sure.  So....check it out here.

Until next time....Hugs from Northern California,

Say It Ain't So!

I can't believe that Wednesday came and went and I didn't post on What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I had it ready, I had photos taken and a project to share.  I didn't have time before class, I guess when I came home all I could think about was fixing dinner and playing with the dogs....so, pretend it's Wednesday and here's my desk!
What do we see here?  Hidden are two projects I am working on for June.  A soda can that is empty, but I keep forgetting to send it to recycling.  One of the books I keep my Poppystamp dies in.  Some Christmas paper....Soon you'll see what I'm making.  Some twine from the Twinery, that too will be revealed in June.  My watch, a water bottle, an invitation to remind me that I need to get a graduation card either made or purchased (I can't believe I said that!)  Directions I decided I'd best read before class....I make my kits a month in advance...So I need a gentle reminder on what I did.  My TV remote, because I use blog writing time to catch up on programs I've taped. Dare I forget my dog's tennis ball on the floor.  Do you think she was hinting?

So, now you know what's on my desk, and you also will know that Miss Julia won't make you wear a dunce hat and sit in a corner if you don't post on Wednesday (well I hope that's true).

This week I decided to repurpose two card kits that I've had for some time.  Thankfully, my buddy Mary Jane had the perfect paper to compliment this card....
and here's one that I've had in my "to do" box for some time.  It is now...."to done"
Well that's it for today.  Have a most happy and crafty day.

WOYWW Number 257

Hello and Happy Wednesday....Of course you know what that means....and if you don't, check it out over on Ms. Dunnit's Blog.    So, that said, here's my desk....
See the rubber mat on the bottom left side?  Well, It's covering something I'm working on for Poppystamps and Twinery in June....I'll show it later.  The rest is stuff that pretty much is always hanging out, with the exception of the ribbon spool, which I didn't put away from another project I'm working on.  Paper bins in the background and my duck, next to the TV.  My duck is soft and cuddly and when things aren't coming together, she is my support.  Kind of like thumb sucking, without the thumb! And there are my stamp cubbies and board with things made by me and others.  Water bottle on the desk because I'm not drinking soda for a week and I'm trying to drink more water.  A few dies, my die cutting machine (one of them) and stuff.  So, now you've seen my desk and I do want to see yours.

So, check in with Ms. Julia Dunnit's blog and play along with us.  I just check in and her desk is very organized this week and she's working on invitations using things from her stash.  Something I try to do to, not make invitations, but use my stash, which by the way needs using.

So that's it for today....I'm off to go cloths shopping, which I really do not enjoy doing.  I don't mind shopping, I hate to try on cloths....so I buy them because they looked good on the rack or on the faceless wooden model that I think looks just like me...ok, I do have a face.  So, when I get home I realize I'm more size enhanced and I look like a sausage covered in flowers.  Today, I shall try everything on!  I am now reminded of a tie dyed summer house dress I once purchased, because the colors were muted and it had pockets. Good reason yes?   I should have tried it on, because my husband pointed out with a belly laugh that there was a big bulls eye on my behind.....just what I needed, my over endowed asset highlighted!  (Good play on words..giggle!)  He did learn it's not nice to belly laugh at wife's clothing!

Ok, really this time.....that's it for today,  Have a crafty week.  I'm doing a weekend crop at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique to celebrate National Scrapbook Day....so, I'm excited because it's always fun crafting with friends!

Hugs,
Mary Mac

WOYWW - 253

Well here it is.
I've been coloring again and hopefully some will make it to cards.  My goal is to get all my rubber stamp images colored and digitally saved so I can catalog them.  Mind you I attempted this several years ago and I was not very successful.  Now, when I look at the previously colored images, I'm finding I want to color them better, so I color them again.  That's not getting the process done is it?

My desk has pens and ink and a card I need to address and mail, and mail I need to deal with and colored images and my very favorite coloring tool.  It's called a Stamp-0-Graph.  It was made by Mostly Animals in San Jose CA.  I've had it for years and though I have other stamp postioners, this one is my favorite.  I don't think it is made anymore, though I have seen one that is similar, but I've tried it and I still like mine the best.  So, there you have it.

Well....off I shall be going to have a peek at what the others are sharing.  I keep inviting my friends to join in, I think they must be on the shy side, because I don't see anything they are sharing.  I want you to know, there are some pretty cool people out there in the world of crafting and I've met several through Miss Julia and WOYWW.... so come on.....join in.

Off I go, today I think I shall contemplate the cloud.  I'm going to lay on my back on the playground, look at the sky and try to figure out which one is Icloud and how all my photos find there way there....OHHHHHHHHH !  My life is full!  Anyone want to join me?  Di?  Sarn?  Mrs. A?

Have a wonderfully crafty day.....

Hugs to all,

What's On Your Workdesk #248

It's Wednesday and we all know what that means, "Show Your Stuff".  Well maybe not your stuff, but what your desk looks like.  And after you post your desk, be sure to link to Julia's blog.  After all, we all want to see what you've been doing.  Here's the link:  WOYWW 248.

Wasn't that easy?  I think so!  My desk looks pretty uneventful.  I'm putting together kits for the March class at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.  I wanted to have everything done before the weekend because I'll be spending Friday and Saturday with Marion Smith of Marion Smith Designs.  Marion will be teaching a room full of gals.  Check out Karen's site to see what we will be learning.  I can hardly wait.  I understand Marion will be sharing her new tool for making flowers.  I'm a tool crazed crafter, so you know I'll for sure need to have one.

Back to my desk, I'm working on some projects for a design team I'm on.  I'll be able to share on the 14th, and my projects on the 16th and the 25th.  Heads up, there will be prizes so mark your calendar.  Can you see the projects?  Oh no you can't....they are hidden just out of the frame.

I've been spending quality time with the Chiropractor.  Seems this ole body doesn't like sitting in the court house for 8 hours a day.  I've never had back issues, so I'm not enjoying these new pains.  I'm learning all about what nerves go where.  Who knew your back was attached to your foot.  Well, I do now.  So, I'm moving a bit slow, but hoping to be up and running very soon.

We are finally getting rain.  Not enough yet, but Mother Nature is trying to catch us up.  Loving every last drop of it.   Are you ready for a nature shot?
This Stellar Blue Jay took advantage of a break in the rain to have a bit of lunch.  Isn't the bird feeder beautiful?  My daughter, Amy and her husband, Linn, gave it to us for Christmas.  I love it, and I think Mr. Jay might also.

That's it for now.  See you again soon....or at least that's the plan.  Until later,

Hugs

It's Wednesday and Time to Share

Just playing around today.  My desk looks pretty tidy this week.  I've been playing with glitter and spray glue and I like the results.  Before I say more, I'm sharing with loads of others on a blog hosted by Julia and if you've followed me for any time at all, you'll know that if it's Wednesday, I most likely will be sharing my work desk....well, it's Wednesday in Julia's world and I shall now share.....you can to, check out WOYWW for all the how too's.

Now, on to my play day.  I used a product called Sprayment to lightly spray, but it's important to cover the entire area of a piece of dry waxed paper sheets. I get mine at Costco, but you can find this at most restaurant supply houses. It doesn't feel waxy.   It's used by prep cooks, if you've worked in restaurants you've seen this product.  Anyway....after spraying I pour on glitter.  For this sheet I used Martha Stewarts yellow gold. I then cover the glittered piece with another sheet of the dry waxed paper and brayer the glittered piece.  After it's dried, I pour the extra glitter back into the bottle.

Here's the finished sheet....I wish glitter showed up better.  I think I need a class on taking photos with glitter.  (that's a hint for my daughter...lets see if she reads this)

I like how pliable and easy to cut the glittered sheet is.  I'm going to play around a bit more.  I think I will try a spray sealer to see if this will protect the glitter.  I'll let you know if sealing the glitter makes for a better product.  I have tons of colored glitter and I was so surprised to see how little glitter this process really uses.

That's it for me today.  I hope you have a most creatively productive day.

Until next time.....Hugs from a much cooler Northern California, with the promise of weekend rain!  Yippee!

WOYWW -

Well, here it is.....
Don't recognize this desk?  It's the counter in my room.  I thought if I let everything stay on the counter, I'd walk in and out of the room and work on this album as time permitted.  This is the second one I've  made of this album.  I'm surprised how quickly the second one is going together.  I guess the second one is a charm.

Not so exciting this week, nothing finished.  My counter does look pretty organized....hmmmmm I'm going to have to work on that next week....Well, I know there will be some exciting happenings over at Stamping Ground, and Miss Julia has organized a tour for you.  Check it out here.  And then get that camera out and show us what you got!

Off I am for now....have a most wonderful week and see you again soon.

WOYWW and Marion Smith Designs

Good Wednesday Morning....you know that means What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, but before I share I desk, I want to share a card I made using Marion Smith Designs papers.  This collection is called Garment District.  I was lucky enough to meet Marion when she was visiting Chico and came by Paradise Scrapbook Boutique.  She and her husband are the sweetest people, anyway, last year, during the Paradise Scrapbook Boutique Anniversary Party,  I was gifted papers and instruction for an album made from the Mad Tea Party papers.  Well, I loved the papers and the album.....thanks to Deb was beautifully created.  Well, long story short....I am hooked on Marion's designs.  And I am soooo excited because she is coming to PSB in February to teach and I can not wait to see what she and Karen have planned for us....Ok, so this is what the inside of the card looks like...
I wanted to have a tag that would give lots of room for a note.  I think this fits the bill!  I'm happy with this card.  I can't wait to find a minute to start another card.....Ok, so moving on......

Last night I was trying to catch up on my blog reading, which by the way I am so far behind.  Well, I hopped over to have a look at what Mrs. A was up to.  She said she'd not been posting as she was organizing her craft room. Well, she created her first card and it is stunning.  I hope you hop over to see what she's made.

Well, that's what I've been up to.  And when I show the photo you will probably say, which item did you move?  Trust me, I've been very busy, getting rid of things I don't need, to make room for the things I do.  What started as just down sizing my papers, move to getting rid of two paper holders that never seem to get used, then it went to organizing envelopes, and then ribbon, and then Christmas embellishments, and then, and then and then!  Seems the more I organized the more messy my room became.  Until finally it was looking pretty good.  I still am trying to put 20 pounds of goods into a 2 pound bag...hmmmm!  Does this make me a hoarder?  Maybe!  Are you ready?  Here it is....
So, now that I have my room cleaned, I guess it's time to make a mess.  Before I do, I want to tell you...it's your turn to share and after you've done so, I you'll need to head over to Julia's Place and link your share.  There you can see all of the other desks.  Trust me, you'll be glad you did!  Be sure to leave a comment.

Until next time, and I think next time will be soon, as I am going to head to my craft room and make a snippet Christmas card.  A goal for this year, 10 Christmas cards a month....let's hope I stick to it.  And I want most of them to be made from snippets.  Note, that's my goal, Di, please don't hold me to it!

Hugs from me to you,  Happy crafting!

WOYWW 239

Happy New Year and here's what my desk looks like this wonderful Day 1 of 2014.
Nothing exciting today.  Yesterday I finished putting kits together for my January class.  That's what you see peeking in from the right side.  The plastic box on the left is what I shall be carrying them to class.  The pink in the center are supplies I will be using to put together a Birthday card for a friend.  Can you see what I re-purposed?  Hint....2014.  I made one earlier and a friend like it so I gifted it to her.  I was going to create another one for me, however, I've got so much to do that I pasted the 2014 calendar pages over the 2013 base I removed the original flower and added one with 2014 in the center.  If I have time later, I'll make a new calendar.  Am I lazy or what?  So, I'm going to enter the calendar, just as it sits into Pixie's Crafty Workshop Snippet challenge.  If you don't see it there, I chickened out!
Guilt got the best of me....well her's my "new to me" calendar.  Sorry the picture is so fuzzy...

Well lots to finish before bed and I'm thinking the recliner wants me to share some time with it...so before I give in to the temptation.....I shall get up and moving.

I'm sure most of you already know about WOYWW, but for those who don't check it out here.  And this first Wednesday of the New Year is the perfect time to join in.   Until next time.....

Merry Christmas and Happy WOYWW

Merry Christmas!  Well, my Work Desk is taking a rest today.  My Son and Husband and one of our pups are still fast asleep.  It's me and Baxter.  Since putting some gifts under our tiny tree, Baxter has been on guard.  I've never had a dog that is so excited by Christmas.
I'm off to WOYWW to see Julia's tree and to wish her a very Merry Christmas!  Until next time...
Merry Christmas!

WOYWW 235

I'm sure we are all in the same boat.  Trying to get everything ready for the big Christmas Celebration.  I am putting some kits together.  I have most of my Christmas Cards in the mail, I do have 3 relatives that I am sending these cards to.  So, cut and glue is what's on my work desk today.

Happy WOYWW....I'm off to finish these cards and then I need to think about what I am taking to the Christmas Crop.....If you want to know more about WOYWW, check out the rules.  I'm sure Miss Julia will be happy to fill you in.  Let me tell you it's fun....Check it out here.

Have a most wonderful Wednesday, Hugs from Northern California, which by the way has turned very cold....
